Tea Cart Makeover {with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®}

Tea Cart Makeover with ASCP

My husband is always looking on Craigslist and he stumbled upon this adorable tea cart not too long ago and I immediately fell in love with it. We snagged it for $55 from a sweet couple looking to make more room for their grandchildren. This is what it looked like before:

There’s a little handle to pull it around as well as removable serving tray and leaves that fold up to make a larger table. I loved the old newspaper looking liner inside the drawer as well. It took me several days to decide on what colors I wanted to use on it. I ended up choosing to do Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (ASCP) in Old Ochre on the bottom half and Graphite on the top.

It was more time consuming than I expected especially around the wheels. I also painted the tray in Old Ochre and stenciled on a Fleur De Lis and our name in the Graphite Paint using my Silhouette Cameo to create the stencil.

I did two coats of paint on the tea cart  and tray and then used a sanding block to distress the paint.  Then, I did one coat of clear wax on the bottom half and two coats of clear wax on the top since it will need to withstand being put up and down and having drinks set on it. I also did two coats of clear wax on the tray.

It was well worth the time it took to do this piece as I had to perfect little spot for it in our family room.

I think what I love so much about furniture makeovers is making something old new again!

To find ASCP near you, visit the Annie Sloan site to find a stockiest. (This post is not sponsored, I’m just a big fan of the paint).
