Home Tour: The Kitchen

If you’ve been following me recently, you know we finally moved out of Oklahoma to just outside of St. Louis.  We found an amazing home to rent for the next few years and I’m so in love with it.  It was built in the 1800s and is an official historic home of the area.  The home was converted into apartments at one time but was changed back into one home in recent years.  The current owners and prior owner have done such an amazing job renovating and updating it while keeping with the original style of the home that I just have to share it with you!

So without further ado, my very favorite room of the house: The Kitchen.  It deserves capitals because I find it that awesome. ;)

Here’s a “looking-in” shot of the whole room as you are coming in from the dining room.  It has grand 11 foot ceilings, exposed brick and an amazing stamped copper ceiling.

Seriously, how cool is the ceiling and crown molding?  I think old houses just have so much character and magic.
This shot is looking back toward the dining room.

We set up a coffee and tea bar under the stained glass cabinetry.

The back half of the kitchen.  Notice the hanging pot rack over the stove.  We’ve always wanted one but sadly, our current pots don’t fit on the hangers!

Kitchen

I’m beyond thrilled to have a gas stove again!

Kitchen

The farmhouse sink is perfect for bathing the baby or all the dishes a family of five creates!

Kitchen

The door by the fridge leads out to a “Summer Kitchen” which locks so we use it for cleaning supplies and the treadmill so the kiddies can’t get to them.
So, that’s it for now!  I hope you love it as much as I do.  As we continue to settle in and on the rare occasion a room is clean, I’ll take more pics to show you more rooms of the home. :)  If you missed it, here’s a recent post with pics of the new craft room.

  1. Wow, beautiful kitchen with wonderful character! I really love the fireplace in the summer kitchen. I think I’d decorate it even though the room is only used for utilitarian purposes! At least it would make you happy every time you walk in to get the mop, lol. :)
