Patterns to Love: “Emmaline” by Violette Field Threads

The “Emmaline” dress is one of those patterns you fall in love with the instant you see it.  Here’s a pic of the original pattern cover:

If you’ve been following me a while, you know how much I love PDF patterns.  When I saw this one, I had to have it (and a few other Violette Fields patterns as well!).
I cut and sewed this whole dress in one afternoon/evening, sewing whenever I could in between keeping the kids happy!  It was a pretty easy sew.  You’ll deal with some bias tapes, ruffling, and elastic casings in the process of creating the dress.  The only thing that confused me a bit was that the strap pattern piece says “Cut 2″ but you actually need 2 for each strap (so four total).  The pattern is very well written with great instructional pictures and contains pattern details for sizes 2T-10 years.
I love, love, love how the dress came out and can’t wait to make my daughter another one!  You can buy the pattern here.

  1. It turned out great! Can you tell me how much fabric it requires? I am thinking of purchasing but wonder if I have enough of the fabric that I want to use. I’d be making a 4.
