Grandma’s Sweet & Savory Meatballs (These are the best!!)

These are a bit sweet and a lot of savory!  Great alone or as a meatball sub.  I tried making homemade french bread for the first time using this recipe from Keep Home Simple.  It was so easy and so good!

Sauce Ingredients:
2 bottles chili sauce
2 bottles water (using empty chili sauce bottles)
2 tbsp grape jelly
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 green pepper, sliced (optional but adds great flavor)

Meatball Ingredients:
2 lb. hamburger
2 eggs, beaten
dash garlic powder
Seasoned bread crumbs
*for a large batch, double using 1 egg per pound of meat

Directions:
Bring chili sauce, water, jelly and brown sugar to a simmer. Add green peppers. For meatballs, mix hamburger, eggs, garlic powder and enough bread crumbs to hold the meatballs together. Put in sauce and cook at least 1 hour.

Tip:
May be made in the CrockPot. These are best if made early in the morning or the day prior.
