DIY Boys Easter Bucket (Made from a plastic Dollar Store bucket)

I bought these plastic Easter buckets at the Dollar Store and turned them into cute little personalised Easter baskets using Mod Podge, fabric scraps, and tissue paper.  Not only was this really easy, but it only took about an hour!

What You’ll Need:
Cheap plastic Easter bucket/basket
Fabric Scraps (I used burlap, canvas trim and striped cotton fabric)
Mod Podge and foam brush
Tissue Paper
Sewing stuff (to cover handle)
Start by cutting a piece of fabric (I used burlap) the width by the circumference of the bucket.  (It’ll be a long rectangle).  Coat bucket with Mod Podge, apply fabric and allow to adhere for a few minutes before applying a second coat of Mod Podge over the top of the fabric.
Then I took some canvas trim and applied it to the top edge and bottom edge of the basket, applying Mod Podge in the same manner.  Cut a little notch around each handle attachment as below.

Set aside to dry a bit while we work on the handle cover.  The canvas trim I used is actually rug binding I had on hand.  I cut two pieces the length of the handle and sewed them together on each long side with a decorative stitch (#11), leaving the short ends open.  Then simple slide the plastic handle into the cover.

Then simply tear up pieces of tissue paper.  Apply a coat of Mod Podge to the interior of the bucket.  Add tissue paper until totally covered and apply one more coat of Mod Podge on top.
Then I cut out the letter of my son’s name (I used my Silhouette Cameo and the font Elephants in Cherry Trees) and Mod Podged them onto the burlap.  Set aside to dry overnight.

When dry, put the handle back on.  That’s it!
