Hawaiian Burgers

These are one of my hubby’s specialties and they are so tasty.  Perfect for a summer cookout (and who isn’t ready for some summer weather right about now?).

What you’ll need (makes 4 burgers):
1 lb ground beef
Oats
1 Egg
Worcestershire Sauce
Salt and Pepper
Pineapple rings
Salsa (We like to use corn and black bean salsa)
Sliced Cheddar
Whole Wheat Burger Buns

Mix beef, egg, oats, a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper to taste.  Form four quarter-pound burgers.  Grill these to be healthier or cook them in a pan over medium heat for juicier burgers.  Cook almost to desired doneness.

A few minutes before burgers are done, top with a pineapple ring, fill hole with salsa, and top with cheddar.  Finish cooking burgers while cheese melts and topping heat up.

Grill buns, add burger, top with a bit more salsa and serve immediately.

Tip: Grill pineapple slices first before topping burger for a sweeter flavor.  This would be yummy on chicken too.  And I can’t help but think some crispy bacon would be perfect on it every time we have this for dinner!
