Monogram Christmas Wreath

I’m wreath obsessed lately.  They are fun and cheap to make and look so cute in or outside the house.  Here is the one I made for our door for the holiday season.

What You’ll Need:
Grapevine Wreath
Candy Cane Stripped Ribbon
4 large buttons (2 red, 2 green)
Wooden Letter for monogram
needle and thread
hot glue gun/sticks
white acrylic paint
glue
silver glitter
muslin fabric (about 1 3/4 yard)
1 sheet white felt
First we’ll make the four flowers.  Initially, I trying using my sewing machine but using hot glue turned out to be much faster and easier while still achieving the same look.  We need to cut a lot of circles of muslin.  I used a plastic peanut can top as my template.  It was about 5″ in diameter.  You’ll need about 25-30 circles per flower.  Cut four circles out of the felt as well.

Heat up your glue gun and let’s get to work on the flowers.  You’re going to take each circle of muslin and essentially fold it in thirds.  The picture below helps explain this better than words can.  Overlap the edge of the felt circle by just a bit.  Glue petals on around the whole felt circle.  We’ll do three layers of petals total for each flower.
As you get into the second and third layers of petals, you may need to clip the pointed end for the petals to fit together in the middle and lay nicely.

Now sew a few “x” stitches in each button so it looks sewn on the flower.  Then glue the button to the center of the flower.
Do this until all four flowers are complete and set aside.  Now take your wooden initial letter and paint it with a couple coats of white.  When dry paint on a thin layer of glue and shake the sliver glitter all over it.  When dry, shake off excess glitter.

The glittered letter sparkles so prettily on the wreath when the sun hits it!  Now gather up all your wreath embellishments.
Now just hot glue your ribbon on the wreath and add a bow at the top.  Then glue your letter in the middle bottom of the wreath and glue two flowers on each side of it.  Hang and enjoy!
