I’ve really been wanting to make a skirt or dress with an uneven hemline. The other day, I was walking by my sewing desk and there was a circular fabric scrap from the last circle skirt I had made sitting on a bandana. It sparked an idea to cut that same circle out of the bandana and make a cute, simple t-shirt dress.
What You’ll Need:
A T-Shirt one size bigger than the size the child normally wears
A bandana
Circle Pattern (I used the innermost part of my Circle Skirt pattern)
Spray Adhesive or Heat N Bond sewable iron on adhesive
Start by folding your bandana in fourths (fold in half and then in half again). Line up your circle pattern and cut out the middle portion. See pics below. The visual makes this easier to understand.
Now lay the bandana at the hem of your t-shirt, folded perfectly in half on the diagonal. We’re going to pin the edges to each side of the shirt. Then continue to pin all the way around as evenly as possible. As shown below, I pinned right along the inside of the t-shirt’s hem line so I’d be sure the skirt was pinned in evenly.
Then I used a zigzag stitch to sew all the way around, attaching the skirt to the shirt. The zigzag stitch allows for a bit more stretch since you’ll be pulling this over your child’s head.
